About the event

Complex trauma, characterized by prolonged and repeated exposure to adverse interpersonal experiences, fundamentally alters an individual's core priorities, shifting them towards immediate safety and survival. This "change in priorities" acts as a deeply ingrained "hidden compass," unconsciously guiding an individual's neurological, biological, psychological, social, and spiritual functioning. This re-prioritization, while a brilliant and necessary adaptation for survival in threatening environments, can persist long after the threat has passed, creating powerful feedback loops that reinforce and perpetuate wide-ranging challenges across all dimensions of well-being. Understanding this central mechanism, this priority shift, is key to comprehending the pervasive and often subtle ways complex trauma impacts an individual, from the deepest neural pathways to their sense of purpose and connection.
